Using Our Baby Growth Percentile Calculator

Our growth percentile calculator helps you understand how your baby's size compares with other children of the same age and sex. The calculator provides percentiles for:

  • Weight
  • Height (length)
  • Head circumference

What is a Percentile?

Percentiles show how your child's measurements compare to other children who are the same age and sex. For example, if your child's weight is in the 20th percentile, they weigh more than 20 percent of children their age and sex.

Important Notes:

  • This calculator is an educational tool only and not a substitute for professional medical advice
  • It's normal for children to be anywhere from the 10th to 90th percentile
  • The most important factor is consistent growth over time, not the specific percentile
  • Regular check-ups with your healthcare provider are essential for monitoring growth
  • This tool is based on World Health Organization data for children under age 2

How to Measure Your Baby at Home

Weight

  1. Weigh yourself while holding your undressed baby
  2. Weigh yourself alone
  3. Subtract your weight from the combined weight

Height/Length

  • Lay your baby on a flat surface
  • Measure from head crown to heel bottom
  • You may need help to stretch legs straight
  • Record to nearest tenth of inch/centimeter

Head Circumference

  • Wrap measuring tape above eyebrows and ears
  • Measure around widest part of back of head
  • Take three measurements and use the largest
  • Record to nearest tenth of centimeter

Remember: Home measurements are estimates only. For accurate tracking, always rely on measurements taken at your healthcare provider's office.
