Child Height Predictor
Our Child Height Predictor uses a combination of factors to estimate your child's height. It takes into account the parents' height, the child's current age, and the child's gender.
Ever wondered about your child's future height? While we can't predict the future with absolute certainty, our scientific approach can provide a reliable estimate of your child's adult height, typically within a 2-inch margin of error.
Our calculator is designed for children aged 2 and above. Please note that results may be less accurate for children who are exceptionally tall or already exceed both parents' heights.
About the Calculator
This Height Predictor utilizes the Khamis-Roche method, developed through a comprehensive study in the 1990s. This scientifically-backed approach considers multiple factors:
- Current height and weight
- Parents' average height
- Age and gender
While this tool provides educated predictions, it's important to remember that it's meant for informational purposes only. If you have concerns about your child's growth, we recommend consulting with their healthcare provider.
Scientific Methods Behind Height Prediction
The Khamis-Roche Method
Our calculator employs this modern, research-based approach that uses mathematical ratios and multiple variables to generate predictions. Unlike older methods requiring X-rays to determine skeletal age, this technique provides accurate estimates using readily available measurements.
Alternative Prediction Methods
The Double-Height Method
- For boys: Double their height at age 2
- For girls: Double their height at age 18 months This traditional method reflects how early childhood growth often represents approximately half of adult height.
The Mid-Parental Height Method
- Calculate the average of both parents' heights
- Add 2.5 inches for boys or subtract 2.5 inches for girls
While these alternative methods are interesting, they typically have larger margins of error (up to 4 inches) compared to the Khamis-Roche method used in our calculator.
